  At night, with the others sleeping, Adlai leaves the house to mingle among the pickets of the new gate, waiting . . .
 
Going back to that original commission and recalling the couple divorced not long after their gate was completed.  Married 28 years, and thinking now that if one or the other was kept from the freedom of themselves, then we should applaud their courage to take such a step, rather than shake our heads at the failure of a 28-year marriage.

This #5 Gate marks the entry to Film Producer Alan Shapiro's Historical Landmark bungalow.

A #5 mounted to a typical stump block wall with the cpw jambs.  Because this is a pool gate, the code often requires the latch be at a certain height from the grade, and the hinges be self-closing.  Pool code gates must open out, away from the pool.
