---The original wood gates presented on the following pages, designed and developed by Charles Prowell Woodworks, have been designed with the principles of stile & rail construction. Each of the primary mortised joints is secured with floating tenons and state-of-the-art adhesives to insure the greatest structural character. Available in clear western red cedar. All of these wooden garden gates are created to your specified dimensions. Charles is happy to consider jpegs or snapshots of your landscape and architecture in his efforts to design your gate to its surrounding precedents.* Explanation of exterior gate joinery |
---Meanwhile....the wood fence panel, developed over a period of several years as a modular fence design to compliment to the garden gate, represents a level of artistry and craftmanship that has defined the work of Charles Prowell Woodworks for over 25 years. A showcase of subtle workmanship, these craftsman fence designs can at once establish the architectural precedent of a home's identity while offering the flexibility of various designs and dimensions along with a simple modular installation to satisfy the primary needs of, well...a fence. The fence panels are of western red cedar, constructed with tenons, dadoes, and high-strength adhesives. The individual length is configured to the provided dimensions of any fenceline--less posts and gate stops. Each panel is a maximum of 5-ft in length. Panel prices do not include posts, post caps, or installation (Step-by-step installation methods are provided). Recommended post size: 6x6 (Pressure-treated sun-dried fir, #2 western cedar, or con heart rough-sawn redwood.) |
---For 28 years, Charles Prowell Woodworks has been committed to the development of new and innovative products. These developments and their eventual prototypes have lead, within their landscape division, to a distinctive selection of works available only within these galleries: Adding to the Garden Gate and Wood Fence Panels, view the unique Garden Arbor and Arbor Trellis on Gallery 4; the Wood Bench offerings under Miscellaneous Construction; the Landscape Lighting Column; the typical standard and lighted Post Wraps; the series of Planter Boxes and Raised Garden Beds . . . all stemming from the original methods of construction devised in the early '90's with the creation of the Stile and Rail Gate. These developing efforts featured in this section of the web site are of course concerned solely within the landscape parameters. To view the full scope of designs and offerings by CPW, please follow the links at the top of the page. Please be reminded: We are not a production shop. We do not stock inventory or provide showrooms to the public. You are welcome to visit by appointment only. |
*** Each gate or fence commission, upon receipt of advance payment, is set up with a tail-site to prowellwoodworks.com. As an effort to simplify our communications, the site will feature the project's dimensioned drawings; statements and invoices; site photos, if available; completion photos; and whatever optional considerations that might arise. Beyond the obvious advantages of dismissing the need for faxes and mail, the site allows us to speak on the phone while viewing at once the common data on-line. Patron site addresses are private and forwarded to each recipient in confidence.- |
