Wooden gate #107-1 in the Oakland hills. Shown with prowell jambs mounted onto the stucco columns.
Shown with leaf strap hinges that were the existing hinges from an earlier gate and not available through Prowell Woodworks.
Seen from within the property. The sunburst wood gate is identical on both sides.
Marin County, CA
Photographed 20 years after installation, the original wooden sunburst gate design #107 from 1995 in Marin County, California as a double gate.
Let’s note that the spokes are joined and dadoed and the panels are fitted within the spokes to allow normal expansion. This is not a plywood panel with “little pieces of wood” nailed on top of it.
Also note that in 2012 we widened the spoke pickets from the original. Resulting in a more structurally stable gate.
Sunburst garden gate #107-3 stained on site to match the existing fence.
